We love learning about the world around us.
We took a pretend trip to the Arctic and found out
how polar bears stay warm in such a frigid place.
Did you know that polar bears have a layer of
BLUBBER under their skin?
Blubber protects the bear when swimming in icy water.
Polar bears have huge feet, that act like snowshoes.
This keeps the bear from sinking into the snow when walking.
Polar bears have interesting fur. Each hair is hollow like
a straw. The warmth of the sun is trapped in each hair
and held close to the bear's body for heat.
A polar bear has black skin. It helps to
keep it warm!
Our Blubber experiment was amazing.
Our hand stayed warmer when placed in the
Blubber Glove.
